I had a UK visa refusal last year. i think i filled the form incorrectly. To be more specific the question "do you have any other source of income or savings?" I said no there. I had a substantial amouny of savings in my bank account. I also think i over exaggerated the money i would spend in the uk where i wrote 4000 pounds per person. Anyways why does the letter say i cant reappeal? Am i banned? Doesnt say anything like i was banned in the letter. Does it mean i can reapply again?

  • @WeatherVane That's a bit harsh: filling out a form incorrectly is not the same as intentionally lying. In this case OP's mistakes appear to have worsened their case, not improved it. Commented Sep 7 at 20:49

Please post the actual refusal letter with personal details redacted. You say "reappeal". Did you already appeal? Commented Sep 7 at 20:49

@lambshaanxy wildly misrepresenting one's circumstances may seem like that to the visa officer. "Do you have any other savings?" No, none, oh sorry massive savings. Hardly an error. Commented Sep 7 at 20:51
  • @WeatherVane: It's perfectly reasonable to read that as "Do you have any (other source of income) or (other source of savings)?" and not "Do you have any (other source of income) or (savings)?". If one has savings, but they are no longer growing, the answers to these interpretations will be different. Best course of action in case of ambiguous official wording is probably to phrase your responses as complete sentences. Instead of "No.", write "I have no other sources of income, nor other sources of savings." Then it could be considered dodging the question, but not misrepresentation.

  • (Alternative to "savings not growing" are "savings growing only from the same sources already disclosed".)

Assuming you applied for a Visitor visa, a refusal letter says something like:

Any future UK visa applications you make will be considered on their individual merits, however you are likely to be refused unless the circumstances of your application change.

If you were banned, the letter would say so.

You cannot appeal the decision because a Visitor visa is not one of the visa classes for which a legal right of appeal exists. There is however nothing to prevent you from reapplying, making sure to submit credible financial information (such as the source of your substantial savings), and trip costs.
