@Ángel no, this is my money, just want to transfer it to my home country to spend it here. Bank transfer is not an option unfortunately, the fees are to high if the cash is not in EUR.
I like your answer however saying that ticket inspections in Kraków are fairly common is a big overstatement. In fact there are very uncommon and the average tourist would have to be very unlucky to have their ticket inspected. Out of my over 100 public transport rides in Kraków none of them ended in a ticket inspection.
@HansAdler your point no. 2 is simply untrue. You can travel in many cases without showing your ID to anyone at the airport. This is especially true at the airports with self check-in/self bag-drop.
According to EU261 Ryanair was supposed to pay me €250 + price of the ticket. In the very end I got €250 + price of the Ryanair ticket (~€20) + price of AirBerlin ticket that I had to buy instead (~200€)
@HakanErdogan I had similiar problem with Ryanair two years ago, and it took me one year to get my money back. I had to file numerous complaints to different authorities in the Europe but in the end it was worth it. Good luck
@Henrik I don't see why it would be 'best to be ready to show a passport'. ID card is as valid document as passport is for internal Schengen flights. I've travelled a lot with just ID card within Schengen area and I am yet to encounter any problems or even weird looks.
@Paul no I am not. dictionary.com/e/empathy-vs-sympathy . I could express sympathy for the person with a knife and don't act upon it. I could express empathy for that person, and therefore would be more likely to act upon it (because I would be able to put myself in his position)
@MatthewCrumley I agree with all the answers posted here. I was just replying to bogardpd comment. There are some reasons, like empathy to help stranger with a knfie, but probably they are not good enough.
