I can safely say that you will have nobody in Vienna mentioning Oktoberfest. While you might occasionally see girls dress up in Dirndls dresses in german states near Bavaria, like Baden-Wuerttemberg, people would look puzzled at girls doing that in Vienna. | |

But maybe you're talking about the small clones that you can find in almost every bigger city in German speaking Europe. But these Oktoberfest are really small. Just like a normal party, whereas the Oktoberfest is the biggest organized party worldwide (immo). So I think you're friend just mixed up Austria and Germany. | |
