I live in the Netherlands and i'm planning a holiday in Tirol. I would really like to cut down on air travel.

In the past i have traveled from the Netherlands to Croatia by train several times and i remember it was quite comfortable. However now we are traveling as a family with a 4 year old child, so changing trains in Munchen at stupid o'clock is something i would like to avoid.

Also, it would be easiest to have a rental car waiting for us at or near the railway station.

Is it possible to get a deal on train tickets + car rental, if so where and how? This site by Deutsche Bahn promises to find me a good deal, but i cannot even find one car. I would be ok to travel to a large railwaystation and to rent a car there for further travel.

In the Netherlands it is possible to rent the car of another citizen, even to go abroad, using Snappcar. Does such a service exist in Germany or Austria and could i use it as a foreigner? (Actually, this is our plan B, rent a family car and go driving).

I have kept the title of the question broad deliberately, if a good rail + rent-a-car deal exists in France or Spain, i'd like to know for our next holiday.
