Jan 31, 2019 at 13:51 comment added Tor-Einar Jarnbjo @user91470 I am not sure where you CANNOT have weapons and/or ammunition in checked luggage. It is at least allowed in most countries in Europe, Asia and Africa. BTW, why are you picking up a two year old comment thread here?
Jan 31, 2019 at 7:37 comment added user91470 @ Tor- Einar Jarnbjo secure areas are beyond the security check points. Therefore after customs you cannot re enter the building by which you exit. On the mention of gun and ammunition. Those are things you CANNOT check in your luggages even if they are licensed. Unless the screeners are sleeping or working with you.
May 24, 2017 at 21:53 comment added Tor-Einar Jarnbjo @phoog Sorry, but I can't follow your understanding or interpretation of the word 'secure'. Yes, the luggage pickup area is on most airports not accessible to arbitrary visitors, just as the platforms on many train stations or many office buildings. I don't understand why that should make the area more secure than any other part of the airport. If you have your gun and ammunition in checked luggage, there is noone preventing you from wreak havoc after picking up your bags.

May 24, 2017 at 20:29 comment added Tor-Einar Jarnbjo @phoog If we with 'secured area' both mean the area of the airport, which you enter after security control of yourself and your hand luggage, then yes, the pickup area for checked luggage must obviously be outside the 'secured area'. If not, it would be trivial to bring items allowed in checked luggage, but not in hand luggage onto the plane.
May 24, 2017 at 19:13 comment added phoog Is baggage claim really "outside the secured area"? The only people who can reach it are passengers leaving the gate area and authorized personnel.
