How and when do iI pay for luggage?

I recently purchased a flight with STA and it only just dawned on me about luggage. ImI'm very new to the while flying thing and well iI was unsure. My Luggageluggage will be over that which is allowed for carry on.

And so my question is as follows. How and when will iI pay for my luggage? Is this done - through STA or at the Air portairport?
