The OP might very well be the sole income earner of the household, unable to easily and suddenly take the minimum 12 hours of time it would take because of work responsibilities (or other inconveniences).

Oct 6, 2016 at 19:05 | comment | added | TonyK | @JonathanReez: that just relocates the problem to the nearby country, doesn't it?

Oct 6, 2016 at 18:01 | comment | added | BruceWayne | Perhaps, but given the specific security environment right now with Turkey and its close neighbors (namely Syria and ISIS territory) I highly recommend against flying to Turkey for a quick turnaround. I would assume that sets off security measures you may not want to be part of.

Oct 5, 2016 at 22:40 | comment | added | R.. GitHub STOP HELPING ICE | International border crossings are damn scary, especially for someone who does not have citizenship-privilege (e.g. US or EU) and who is not proficient in the language. It never ceases to amaze me how people will try to skimp on a few hundred (or at most a thousand or so) dollars as insurance and comfort/support for their spouse in cases like this.
