I believe the Passport Authority will consider genuine cases even if 5 years has expired, because errors in spelling, date etc are a widespread issue. The newspaper article seems to mention that the Passport Authority has the right to reject a request without any further legal proceedings, if it feels the request is not genuine. This is why it is perhaps better for the OP to get a legal opinion. | |
