Programs vary widely, but commonly involve a background check, submission of biometric information, and an interview.
ExamplesWell-known programs in the English-speaking world include: the Registered Traveller service in the uk, CANPASS in canada, and TSA Pre✓ and Global Entry in the usa.
While most such programs are government-run and prosaic in services, some, like Privium in the netherlands, offer other amenities such as reserved parking or lounge access. And some, like Clear in the U.S., offer expedited screening at non-travel facilities, such as sports arenas.
