(You can, offcourse, get still get sick after leaving malaria tropica area if you stop using your prophylaxis too early.) The other 3 types (yes, there are 4 main types of Malaria: Plasmodium falciparum, P. vivax, P. malariae and P. ovale) can recur. | |

But I also think it's beyond the scope of this site and belongs somewhere about health and medicine. | |

I looked into this quite a bit when I travelled in Central America for a year about five years back. So I would agree with Michael's non-doctorly advice. | |
