Aug 2, 2019 at 15:55 comment added ISAE I'd also note that many airlines are "cushioning" their flight duration to leave room for delays, and each airline will have its own practice on that.

Sep 9, 2014 at 9:14 comment added Nix EDIT: Delta also considers CDG a hub, although with much fewer routes than Air France. They land at the same terminal. Delta considers BOS their hub also, and depart from a different gate than Air France. Thus, gate location is likely not the answer in this example.
Sep 9, 2014 at 9:04 comment added Nix I assume it may be due to gate location. Since CDG is the main hub of Air France, they likely have the "best" gates, which don't require a lot of taxxing. Or perhaps they have their own terminal, which means they don't have to cue up in the more crowded runways (speculation).
Sep 9, 2014 at 8:49 comment added Relaxed @LouisHuppenbauer But that wouldn't account for a different scheduled duration when flying to the same airport, except, perhaps, if Air France can count on being given some priority over other airlines at CDG?!
Sep 9, 2014 at 7:51 comment added Louis Huppenbauer And an airplane just can't always land as soon as they arrive near the airport - Sometimes they have to circle around for a while (flew in to Zurich a couple of times and descent almost always took a different amount of time).
Sep 9, 2014 at 3:04 comment added Paul Forgot something rather obvious in your list - different aircraft have different cruising speeds. 25 minutes difference on a 7-hour flight is only 40km/h different in cruise speed.
Sep 9, 2014 at 2:08 comment added Relaxed Though about the first one too but glancing at the 10 days or so available for free on flightaware.com, AF321 and AF333 seem genuinely shorter than DL243. (Not completely sure about that but I think this is time actually spent in the air, so it would also rule out the second, fourth and fifth hypotheses).
