It's a common sales tactic to double one's prices just so one can offer a "limited time 50% off special!" "Compare at" prices much higher than the merchant's own are another common strategy, where the quality/value of what they're selling is not actually the same as the object of the comparison but they'd like to imply it is anyway. What a willing buyer paid a willing seller is a much truer indication of value for customs. | |
