In any case North Sea ferries are not always particularly pleasant, certainly the Netherlands-Newcastle one, especially at weekends when they're often full of drunk people. Newcastle to much of Scotland is easy by train; Hull to Scotland not so much. | |

In both cases the journey requires over an hour by public transportation. I didn't look to see whether the situation is similar on the other side in England. | |
Aug 24, 2023 at 18:07 | comment | added | Willeke♦ | I think there are direct coaches from the ferry near Newcastle to Edinburgh, otherwise it will be a coach to the station and trains from there, as well as the coach from Amsterdam to the ferry. I guess Rotterdam - Hull has the same options and difficulties. I would go for train all the way unless you love ferries. | |
