I have missed dozens of flights due to a late incoming connection less than 5 mins beyond their schedule and asked numerous times personnel to hold the next flight in order to avoid missing a rare connection (flights that only occur once a day or once every couple of days). They have never held it for a family of 5 plus any other passengers on the same route. The last time I saw a plane delay its departure we had an entire Olympic team coming in late! That must have some leverage that most groups don't.

In addition to getting you to Malaga, and depending upon the amount of any delay, KLM will also be responsible for taking care of you in the interim (food and lodging) and paying you additional compensation under EU law.
