Dec 21, 2020 at 17:05 comment added stephanmg I will check. I hope I do not need to switch to an international phone plan.
Dec 21, 2020 at 17:00 comment added Midavalo @stephanmg you should be able to find that info on Verizon website. I've never paid to receive calls, but I have seen some that were something like $0.50 per minute. I can't speak for Verizon though
Dec 21, 2020 at 16:57 comment added stephanmg Well I wonder how expensive Verizon will be to receive the call. I do not have an international plan.
Dec 21, 2020 at 16:34 comment added Midavalo @stephanmg Have you already ported your number, or are you in that process? You should be able to receive calls on your old number even outside of the US
Dec 21, 2020 at 16:32 comment added Midavalo @stephanmg Google Voice should work over data. I've only ever had them text me and it comes through on the Google Voice app, but calls should work too.
Dec 21, 2020 at 16:20 comment added stephanmg @Midavalo: I am outside the US. How could I accept the Google verification phone call?!

Oct 5, 2020 at 11:05 comment added stephanmg @Midavalo yes I will see if I can do it while in the US or if I need a VPN provider.
Oct 2, 2020 at 18:07 comment added Midavalo @stephanmg Do you have a US VPN? The porting status page should work through a VPN. Also it seems to work from a laptop but not from a phone (I can get that Port Check page to open in a browser on my laptop, but from my phone it just takes me to some other page.
Oct 2, 2020 at 16:58 comment added stephanmg I think you guys are right, GV is only available in the US. Darn! Okay, let me figure this out.
Oct 2, 2020 at 16:52 comment added stephanmg @CGCampbell yes, but when I click on the porting status page I am faced with this: "Sorry, this page can't be found. This page doesn't exist in Google Chat Help. It may be deleted because the feature doesn't exist anymore, or the URL may be incorrect."
Oct 2, 2020 at 16:29 comment added bjmc @stephanmg if you're already outside the US, Google may be hiding the option from you. Try using a US-based VPN and see if the option re-appears when you connect via a US IP address.
Oct 2, 2020 at 15:54 comment added Harper - Reinstate Monica Not every number can be ported to Google Voice. That's because the porting process isn't free (internally to the various providers) and prices vary, and obviously Google isn't willing to pay for some of the more costly ports.
Oct 2, 2020 at 13:15 comment added CGCampbell Have you read support.google.com/voice/answer/1065667
Oct 2, 2020 at 8:29 comment added stephanmg That's ingenious. Thanks! It appears the page "Google Voice Porting Status" is gone. They (Google) said one should check there if the number can be ported or not. Where do I find the page?
