Timeline for I lost my passport in Japan and my flight is in a few days. Is a travel permit (from the embassy) enough to allow me exit from Narita?

The airline staff will have seen a temporary travel document and wouldn't be surprised. If the check-in staff does not understand what's going on, they will have a manager/supervisor who does.

I have collected the emergency travel doc from my embassy. Recent developments have probably incorporated use of face recognition to check travelers out of the country - giving no seal to their passports. So I'm guessing crossing the immigration shouldn't be a problem right? However, should the airlines not bother about this temporary document, I am good to go. I just don't want to end up in uncertainty.
