Can iI stay in the states longer using my American passport?

I am a ukUK/usUS dual citizen. I came to the states on an ESTA. I'm aware I can only stay in the states for 90 days on the estaESTA. I am getting my American passport whilstwhile I'm here. Can I then use my usUS passport to somehow extend my staystay here?
