May 24, 2018 at 22:32 | comment | added | Peter Taylor | Perhaps you could make that clearer? E.g. add "If someone buys the ticket online for it" before the sentence about ID. (PS FWIW the last time I got the AVE from Valencia to Madrid I bought the tickets online and they didn't check my ID; but now that I understand why you mention it I agree that it's worth mentioning: better to be safe than sorry).
May 24, 2018 at 22:18 | comment | added | Quora Feans | @PeterTaylor: yes, but the idea is to have your ticket bought from afar. I don't know how much money the OP has in the pocket, but trains are considerably more expensive than buses in Spain.

May 23, 2018 at 19:04 | comment | added | Peter Taylor | You won't be asked for an ID to travel by train if you buy the ticket in person at the station: only if you buy it online or in a travel agency. Reference.
May 23, 2018 at 5:15 | comment | added | Martin Bonner supports Monica | "contact someone back home again. But now ask them to send you money through Western Union. It's automatic (like 5-10 min.)". Phone rather than email - an email "please help, I've lost all my documents and cash. Send me money by Western Union" is a classic scam.
