They simply have a different business model to get you those cheap flights, and that's to charge for carry-ons. AA, Jetblue, Delta, etc. are not charging for carry-ons and I doubt that will change.

Nov 15, 2017 at 13:58 | comment | added | vincenth | Someone tried it : rtwblog.com. Apart from a few raised eyebrows at security, it went fairly well
Nov 15, 2017 at 9:47 | comment | added | AndyT | @drewbenn - 1. No the starting point should not be defined. The whole point is to get answers of different ideas, such as "wear cargo pants" or "buy stuff when you get there". 2. Please don't post sexist comments which assume a woman will take birth control but a man won't.
Nov 15, 2017 at 3:24 | comment | added | Astor Florida | @Eric Wow - 5 jumpers and 2 jackets. I don't even own 5 jumpers. And he's traveling with them!

Nov 14, 2017 at 21:26 | comment | added | Tor-Einar Jarnbjo | Sorry, but this question should be closed as either opinion based or far too broad, depending on where you are going and what you are planning to do. Three very obvious solutions would be to either buy everything you need at your destination and throw it away before going home, spend your entire vacation in the same clothes, ignoring that other people find you disgusting, or travel dressed in two sets of clothes to have at least one set of change, which you can wash while wearing the other set when you are at the destination.
Nov 14, 2017 at 20:56 | comment | added | warren | @Fattie ... I find I don't need a lot in the winter, either - but I'm pretty well insulated =P
Nov 14, 2017 at 19:38 | comment | added | Fattie | "I mean, if one is traveling for a week to a vacation spot, is it possible to do so with no luggage?" if you literally mean a "beach resort" it is as easy as pie. You need nothing other than an old pair of swim trunks and a singlet. Enjoy!
Nov 14, 2017 at 19:37 | comment | added | Fattie | Note! it's harder to do this in winter. You simply need more stuff in winter.
Nov 14, 2017 at 19:36 | comment | added | Fattie | I travel with zero-luggage very often. Just go for it. You need only shop carefully at The Gap etc for a few new tshirts, needn't cost a lot. I just grab my passport, wallet and go.

Nov 14, 2017 at 17:18 | comment | added | Newton | This is more of a personal need/practice I think. You don't wanna talk anything? Don't take anything. Simple. You won't get an A+ for that though :-p Want some essentials? Stuff them into your backpack. I doubt any security questions would entail because you don't have a carry-on etc.
Nov 14, 2017 at 17:04 | comment | added | Astor Florida | @Max In my experience, Border control people think it is a bit silly when you tell them you've been gone for 4 weeks and have small or no luggage. Security lines in airport think you've just checked everything.
Nov 14, 2017 at 17:01 | comment | added | Max | no carry-on or purse or something like that to hold at least your electronics, books, toothbrush ? I might be suspicious and probably be spotted for extra security screening.

Nov 14, 2017 at 16:54 | comment | added | Nate Eldredge | I'm not sure what kind of answer you're looking for, other than the obvious "acquire everything you need after you arrive at your destination". It'll depend greatly on how much stuff you need/want, how often you want to change or wash your clothes, etc.
Nov 14, 2017 at 16:48 | comment | added | Astor Florida | No carry-on, no personal item, no checked luggage.
Nov 14, 2017 at 16:46 | comment | added | Marcel P. | will you have a carry-ons? Or really nothing? I already traveled for a week to US only with a backpack..
