I used Bahn.de to search for train journeys between Istanbul and Sofia. Starting in Istanbul there is a direct connection to Sofia. It leaves daily at 22:00 and arrives in Sofia at 9:10. The journey notes indicate that this is not a train that runs daily, but it is unclear when it runs. In the opposite direction, starting in Sofia, there is no direct ...

An express bus operated by the Turkish railways connects the Sirkeci station of Istanbul to the Turkish railway border checkpoint at Kapikule - besides this, a Turkish train runs from the Istanbul suburb of Halkali to Kapikule, calling at Cerkezköy, Alpullu and Edirne en route. At Kapikule, after clearing immigration, you board a small Bulgarian train which ...

Your best option is to use a local taxi app - TaxiMe or Maxim. I'd install both just in case and order a cab from whatever app works best at that time.

I don't think it's possible. The Center for City Mobility (Център за градска мобилност) in Sofia which is responsible for the rapid transit system in the city has this to say on SMS parking (emphasis mine): Customers of Bulgaria’s mobile operators may park on public streets and squares in the municipality, which are within the limits of the Blue Zone ...

Your hotel in Sofia may be willing to store your bags, especially if you are staying some nights there again on the far side of the UK journey.

If things are not changed in last years you will travel in an old standard coach without sockets or Wi-fi (and no restaurant coach). Please pay attention, because trains don't leave anymore from Istanbul but from Halkali (Istanbul suburbs).

Based on the Sophia airport website, with its lack of information on left luggage options, combined with the fact that several other sites mention that there is not left luggage on the airport, I would say that you can't leave your luggage at the airport. Wikitravel has a page about Sophia and they do mention luggage several times on the page, including ...

Since i couldn't find any conclusive information on the rumor that splitting the trip from Bucharest to Sofia makes it cheaper i decided to do some empirical research so here goes: Direct train from Bucharest(from Bucharest Nord) to Sofia costs 140 ROM (35euros) lei and there are few departures per day, 12:55, 23:55 that i am aware of. If there is any ulterior significance to an below-grade fountain, it is long buried, along with the individuals who were involved in the project, from its very concept to a long-overdue realization. It may have been the site itself, cratered by bombs, littered with a haphazard collection of buildings including military barracks and a train station and coal ...

It may be difficult to buy tickets in Turkey because most booking sites require both a Turkish ID number and Turkish format phone number. At busbud we've solved this for domestic routes, I'll check into getting this international route. HAS Turizm has a special booking site for their routes to "Bulgaristan" which seems to allow bookings for a maximum of ...

According to Seat61.com, there is a new train running from 2017-02-20: The Istanbul-Sofia Express links Istanbul with Sofia every night, leaving Istanbul Halkali station at 22:40 and arriving Sofia's impressive communist-era central station at 08:45 next morning. This new sleeper train started running from 20 February 2017. The train has with two safe &...

The Central Bus Station has a website http://www.centralnaavtogara.bg/index.php In the dropdown Дестинация select БАНСКО. So the last bus from the Central Bus station seems to be leaving at 16:45 I have not found an authoritative website for Buses from Ovcha Kupel. This site of the Bansko municipality lists slightly different times: http://bansko.bg/en/...

I bought an extra ticket for my backpack for a bus ride from Sofia airport to the city center. The girl selling the bus tickets told me to do this. The bus eventually got crowded, so I realized the ticket wasn't for a bus seat, but for taking up room in the bus. I would have felt embarrassed taking up two seats, when there are elders coming on the bus. The ...
