Airports
There are 9 international airports in Pakistan, and various domestic airports. All are administered by the Civil Aviation Authority.
The three most used are:
Jinnah International - KHI is the largest international airport, located in the southern port city of Karachi. It is a hub for the flag carrier Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), airblue, Shaheen Air and Air Indus.
Benazir Bhutto International - ISB (previously known as Islamabad International) is the airport at the federal capital Islamabad. It is a joint-use airfield with a single runway; and is also referred to as PAF Base Nur Khan (previously known as PAF Base Chaklala).
Allama Iqbal International - LHE (previously known as Lahore International) is the airport located in Lahore, the provincial capital of Punjab.
Road Transport
In addition to airports an extensive highway system links major provinces and cities.
The Wagah crossing is the only road link between India and Pakistan that is accessible to foreign visitors. The Delhi-Lahore Bus runs between the provincial capital of Lahore and the Indian city of Delhi, a journey that takes 8 hours.
Travel between Kashmir and Pakistan is also possible through various road links (ex, Poonch-Rawalkote. The Srinagar-Muzaffarabad Bus service connects the capitals of the Indian administered Kashmir (Srinagar) and the Pakistan administered Kashmir (Muzaffarabad).
Through the Khunjerab Pass you can travel between China and Pakistan on the Karakoram Highway named after the Karakoram mountain range. It is ranked as one of the best adventure tourism destinations as it provides access to many mountain ranges.
