Any activity where a person provides information that is untrue. Deception can be explicit, but also by silence. Commonly deception occurs in making a visa application or in an interview with an Immigration Officer at a port of entry. Also covers false or forged documents and using an assumed name. In some cases, deception may result in sanctions against the person such as bans or removal.
