Anyone who was refused USA student visa in the past, was able to get a Ireland student visa? How did you mention it in your Irish visa application as unlike European countries, USA does not provide any visa refusal letter or refusal stamp?

I am applying for Ireland student visa from Bangladesh this year. I had previous USA student & tourist visa refusal long ago as my sister is USA citizen.

  • If all the information you have is that you applied for a US student visa, and your application was rejected...then that's all you can say about it. May 13 at 19:35
  • How can Irish embassy verify USA visa refusal? I do not think USA has any agreement with Ireland to share visa refusal information? @DavidSupportsMonica May 13 at 19:40

The Irish embassy doesn't have to do anything. a) The US and the UK share information under the Five Eyes Treaty. b) The UK and Ireland also share data; Thus: c) Ireland already knows; d) It's always the right tactic to tell the truth in visa applications. If you don't tell the truth, and they see that you didn't tell the truth — and they will see it in this situation — then not only will your visa application be denied but you'll likely be banned for deception. How long ago was your US refusal? How have your circumstances changed since then? Do you meet all the eligibility criteria irrespective of the refusal?

  • Traveller brings up a very good point. Just because your application was previously denied does not mean this one will be denied too. If your circumstances have improved and you're otherwise eligible, the new application may succeed. On the other hand, if you lie on the application, you're almost certainly in for refusal or worse.
