As the title states, I have booked a flight from London to Siem Reap, Cambodia with Vietnam Airlines. This includes a 2hr 50m transfer in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam, where we switch to a Cambodia Angkor Air flight. All booked through Vietnam Airlines on one ticket.

I've spent many hours trying to find out if when landing in Ho Chi Minh we need to collect and recheck baggage to get on the transfer flight.

My initial response from Vietnam Airlines facebook support chat was 'yes'. Which would indicate having to go through immigration (and needing a visa) etc to get bags. So I emailed them and they said "please ask at the check in desk before boarding", which is FAR too late to be finding out whether you need a visa. I also rang them and they gave the same answer.

As a british citizen I have a 15 day visa waiver for Vietnam, but we are returning back to the country after a few days in Siem Reap and planned to use it then. It cancels upon leaving, so if we have to use it to transfer then its gone and I'll have to prepare by getting an online eVisa also.

Anyone have any experience with this?
