Skyscanner asseverates that Air Canada flies directly between OSA and YVR. Screenshot of AC's flight map under proves it.

  1. Why don't these KAYAK searches including OSA-YVR and including YVR-OSA show direct flights?

  2. Let me know if other airlines fly OSA-YVR directly. I don't have to fly AC.

I'm voting to close this question as off-topic because we are not Kayak's customer support and cannot answer questions about why their site behaves as it does. – David Richerby Jul 5 at 8:29
  • Just ftr, I can't find "asservate" in any dictionary. I think you mean "assert". – David Richerby Jul 5 at 9:15
  • @David Richerby ‘Asseverate’ appears here merriam-webster.com/dictionary/asseverate According to the entry, it’s a rather pretentious word, very rarely used and then only by those who like to show off their vocabulary. It’s pretty antiquated - I’ve certainly never heard it used in real life, not even on the BBC! It’s also not the correct verb to use in the context of the question - I doubt a computer system can ‘asseverate’ anything :-) – Traveller Jul 6 at 23:30
  • @Traveller: Curiously, that word is used three times by three different users on T.SE: travel.stackexchange.com/search?q=asseverate. Like you, I've never heard it in real life either. – Greg Hewgill Jul 8 at 0:36

Just because an airline operates a route doesn't mean they fly that route every day. Kayak gets no results with direct flights on those searches because there are no direct flights scheduled on the dates you're searching for.

Put the same dates into Air Canada's website directly and you'll get no direct flights there, either. Put August 1st in and you find direct flights on both Air Canada and Kayak.

  • But how do you know AC has direct flights on Aug. 1? Who has time to trial-and-error 365 days??!?? – Matthew Lau Jul 5 at 8:18

@Matthew Lau That’s what travel agents are for. TSE isn’t a search engine – Traveller Jul 5 at 8:21

@MatthewLau it was the first random date I selected, in that specific case. But most travel search engines (including Kayak) allow you to search for flights +/- a few days of your chosen date. I just tried and don't actually see any results for direct flights +/- 3days of 4th Feb, it may be that the route is being retired or only operates seasonally. – Chris H Jul 5 at 8:25
