This question already has an answer here:

I and my spouse (both senior citizens) are travelling at the end of June with the following itinerary:

  1. (Etihad EY255): Kolkata (CCU) to Abu Dhabi (AUH).
  2. (Etihad EY151): Abu Dhabi (AUH) to Chicago (ORD).
  3. (American Airlines AA3201): Chicago (ORD) to Oklahoma City (OKC).

All the flights were booked in a single booking.

I am anxious to know :

On our arrival in Chicago (ORD), would we have to collect our checked-in bags and re-check them again before boarding our last connecting domestic flight AA3201?

  • You don't need to reclaim your baggage in Chicago because Abu Dhabhi-Chicago is a "domestic" flight by virtue of US pre-clearance. If Etihad and AA have interline agreement, you'll pick up your luggage at final destination only. – RedBaron Jun 24 at 11:10
