Feb 24, 2019 at 19:53 comment added Gerard Ashton @Aganju, UAE, Peru and India are outside the area for which the passport card or EDL can be used. So the traveler will have to have his/her passport book with him anyway.

Feb 24, 2019 at 4:18 comment added Tor-Einar Jarnbjo @Aganju In which country are hotels required to check immigration stamps in the guest's passport?
Feb 23, 2019 at 14:27 comment added Gerard Ashton @Aganju, obviously if the COUNTRY (national government) has agreed to the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative, It won't need an immigration stamp. But that doesn't prevent private companies, states, provinces, municipalities, or parts of the national government other than immigration from having rules that are out of step with national immigration policy.
Feb 23, 2019 at 14:17 comment added Aganju But it is not the passport number - it is the card's number. And most countries will not accept it as replacement - the need the number of the passport that contains the immigration stamp, and they are legally required to verify that stamp.
Feb 23, 2019 at 12:55 comment added zaph There are instances where a passport number is needed such as at hotels and Airbnbs when checking in.
Feb 23, 2019 at 5:23 comment added phoog @zaph what does the passport number have to do with it? The number of a passport card is unique, as is the number of a passport book. The number identifies the document, not the person.
Feb 23, 2019 at 4:15 comment added zaph IMO the passport card is a better ID out of the U.S. since it also contains the passport number, is issued by the U.S. government and the EDL will not be equally recognized as a passport card.
