comment Mount Everest without the crowd
I also plan on doing this in the winter. My expectations: The temp shouldn't be too bad in the day because you should only be walking in sunshine (mostly). Also, there is practically very seldom snow in the winter (in the heights), if you look on the rain charts there is maybe only snowing a handful of days the whole winter, and the rest of the time you will be watching beautiful mountains in very clear weather. At least if you are lucky. However, things can change extremely rapidly, and I have heard that it can drop 1M snow in scary short time. Nights are going to be very cold.

comment Camping in national parks in Sri Lanka
Tenting in some of these parks and you can be 100% sure to die. As Mark Mayo wrote, there are crocodiles everywhere, leopards, elephants and other animals that might attack you. Most parks have basic buildings that you can stay safe in, but you need to bring all gear into the park. Never leave the car ;)

comment How to visit India, Nepal and Sri Lanka on a single trip
It should be mentioned on the VISA. Mine say: May be permitted to enter India within 60 days. I bought all relevant tickets before I left and gave the embassy a copy.

comment What is the actual price of hiring a porter for Everest base camp?
Do your research and/or contact a porter organization. You can find much info on the net. E.g. here: ippg.net and here himalayanrescue.org

Sure, you can do it directly with a porter. You will be approached by kids and porters in Kathmandu or you can ask around. BIG WARNING: when you do it directly you are responsible for the porter by Nepal law. Therefore you must ensure that they are strong enough for the job, have proper cloths (preferable the same as you) and that they get proper accommodations and care in the mountains. Also, if you are going high they must be insured for helicopter rescue and you need to find out how to get them this. It's also easy to get porters at hotels or even at some guest houses in the mountains.
