comment 70 minutes Layover at LAX
Definitely no security, no walking outside (T4-T8 are all connected airside now!). United do NOT use TBIT other than for a very small number of early-morning international arrivals before their own immigration hall in T7 opens. The return MEL-LAX IS one of the flights that uses TBIT 6 days a week, but not on the outbound.

comment Are there countries where people of a particular religion are refused entry?
Although it is not currently stated on their website, the official Saudi Government Tourism website has previously explicitely stated that visas would not be issues to "Jewish People" - web.archive.org/web/20030925131342/http:/…

comment Do I get a free checked-in luggage item on this flight?
Sorry, but as a general answer ('always') this is COMPLETELY WRONG. For some airlines it's the marketing carrier, for others it's the operating carrier.

comment What currencies can I use in Istanbul?
Having been to Turkey many times, most recently only a few weeks ago, LP has this wrong. Or at least, if not wrong, they are ignoring the fact that any shop accepting USD/Euro will do it at such a shocking rate that it's simply a stupid thing to do.

In the "nearby" category is Ars Electronica in Linz, Austria. I found it great, but perhaps I'm biased due to having some of my work on display there :)

Yup, at 120KG you'll be fine. 220KG as originally stated would likely be a different story!!

$5000? Sorry, I can't believe that. If they are unable to find volunteers they will "Involuntary Denied Boarding" (IDB) someone, which will cost them a fraction of that amount. $500, maybe. $5000, not a chance.

Having flown International First Class (ie, on a 3 class plane!) on what was booked as an Economy ticket only a few months ago (as well as being "paid" $200 in vouchers), I can guarantee that upgrades can still play a part in the conversation...

Wait.. 270 lbs is NOT 220 kgs - it's 120kg. Are you saying your weight is 270lbs/120kg, or 485lbs/220kg??

The problem with that logic is that the person asking the question does have "much more than [your] weight", so...

Once you've applied there's no way to withdraw the application. However I suspect that (at the time the question was asked) the OP had not actually "applied", but instead had just made an appointment for an interview and potentially filled in the relevant paperwork (eg, DS160). At that point, no actual application has been made - that only happens at the interview - and he could easily cancel the appointment or simply not show up and it would not be considered a negative.
