comment Places worth visiting by train from Munich to Berlin
+1 for suggesting Prague, it beats whatever else it's in the way from Munich to Berlin.

comment Someone else is booking international ticket for me using their credit or debit card. Do they need to be present physically at the time of check in?
Just to improve this answer, from personal experience: Turkish Airlines also requests the credit card holder to be present when flying out of Turkey, but not when flying into - odd indeed. And as @Geeo points out, unless the person who asked the question clarifies the airline he's flying in, there's no way to know if the credit card holder will be needed or not.

comment Cheapest way to get to Istanbul from North America
Update: I searched for bargain prices from all over Canada, the US and Mexico to Istanbul. As some noted, the cheapest way turned out to be a direct flight to Istanbul via Turkish Airlines, I found the lowest price to be $399 USD for a return flight from Washington to IST. Chicago during the winter turned out to be the best option with tickets at around $533 USD, but after 1 month (ending around mid January) prices skyrocketed to $1000+. From my own experience, the cheapest options are Washington, Chicago, NYC and Orlando. However: beware of TKA horrible customer service and restrictive dates.

comment Getting from Mexico City airport to downtown easily and safely
@hippietrail I understand your point about taking all their luggage, yet he says he is travelling only with one large backpack to which he can accommodate fairly easy in the metro. Also nowhere in the question above I see a point of lack of sleep and overall he's asking how bad the metro really is? I just provided stats for that and overall suggestions. Also as a former local of the city - I saw heaps of people taking the metro with luggage both foreign and local.

comment Some travel forms ask if I've visited Africa recently. What restrictions might I encounter due to my travel to Africa?
Here's the most recent link to the FDA question [PDF file: DHQ Full-Length Donor History Questionnaire (PDF - 117KB)]: fda.gov/BiologicsBloodVaccines/BloodBloodProducts/…

Agree with @Doc. Although the question itself might indeed be too broad for travel.stackexchange.com, that particular question NickC & Doc mentions is used by goverments all over the world (in the US - it's listed on the FDA donor's history - question #47 - 2006 version). So it seems to me that the rules of this website for asking questions - in this specific case - do not meet the reality, since at some point a traveller might indeed get asked this question or as NickC asks, should worry about the repercusions & restrictions (health-wise) of travelling to third-world african countries.

@MarkMayo: hitchhiking is off limits. I am considering ground transportation as my question already notes and I just removed the reccomendation part, the question remains the same: cheapest way to get to Istanbul from NA.
