@Karen no, it is not the question. Residence permit legally gives you right to travel across Schengen area. What is not clear is that is it sufficient or you need passport with it. Dutch/EU nationals can travel with just their National ID, I think residence permit is not really an ID on its own, and non-EU folk possibly have to carry passports.

Checks around borders are carried out by local police, they are not migration authorities. That's what I heard about Dutch-German border. I think Dutch-Belgium border is most chilled out one in Europe, it was abolished even before Schengen.

comment 5 yr residence card: does it let me travel without my husband?
@Annoyed does it really matter if her husband is UK resident or not, if she has the residence card?

@Annoyed how it can be relevant if she has residence card? It means that she is legal resident of the UK and has right to enter until card is expired or her family status changes.

The status of your husband is completely irrelevant. And it doesn't matter if you travel alone or together for you.

You added so much irrelevant information. The only that matters is: what passport(s) do you have, which country issued card and where do you want to go. Please state this clearly.

comment Interesting places to see around (not in) Valencia?
Xativa is sooo cool, I highly recommend it to everyone. My advise is to try to get there earlier, before tourist bus starts working. You will have a chance to see the castle without annoying crowds, only by yourself. It was great experience for me, because more popupal places are usually crowded and you don't have a change to enjoy the place by yourself.
