comment What items are forbidden to take when traveling to the US that would be OK in most other countries?
@jwenting or just use common sense?

@MarkMayo nope, this is a really good question, that unfortunately attracted dumb answers.

This doesn't even attempt to answer the question. It is an answer to the different question "which items are forbidden to take when traveling to the US?". The whole point of this question is to get a quick summary of the unusual prohibitions, not all of them!

comment Firearm carried aboard an ocean going sailboat
@Cody this comment worries me. Are you actually going on cruise, or the whole point of your voyage is to hope to get attacked by pirates in order to be able to legally shoot at them?

comment What is overbooking (of flights), and why do airlines all seem to do it?
This doesn't make sense: no seat is sold twice. Or, to be anal, one seat is sold twice but another one is occupied without being directly paid, since you already paid for the first (overbooked) seat.

comment What is the actual price of hiring a porter for Everest base camp?
@grm this means that if they get ~half of what you pay, the other half is used by the agency to pay for all these insurances and stuff.

Next time fly with a company who isn't trying to rob you using nonsense clauses of doubtful legal standing.

@GregHewgill maybe there are some policies, he's asking about that.

comment Why is the food so bad on airplanes?
Is this question assuming that on business class the food quality is higher? Is it? It would be very relevant to know that.

comment Do I need to pass customs if I enter by swimming over a body of water?
The answer to this question is obvious. Would have been more interesting "is there a way to legally enter a country by swimming? (such as a special permit or similar means)".

comment How to behave on a US visa interview?
So for a mere $100 you would give an hostile government access to ALL your emails, web searches and stuff ever? (disclaimer: "hostile" since IF they ask him that, then they should be considered hostile, not implying they are hostile by default)

If they ask you to log into your email (or any other service) with their computer, obviously refuse. Just in case.

comment Is there any list of countries I should not visit if I want to go to the US?
OT: maybe it's just me, but if a country makes so hard to visit it, I'd rather go somewhere else.

comment I was told my signature was ripped out of my passport. Should I be worried?
@SpehroPefhany AFAIK fraud implies you convince me to do something lying to me, while if you just steal from me (doesn't matter how), you're a thief.

comment Is pipe water drinkable in cities of Bergamo and Milan in northern Italy?
(also remember that almost everyone can afford bottled water, water is extremely cheap in Italy, compared to other western countries: I can safely say that the burden of going to the supermarket to get it is usually more than the actual cost of the water itself)

No, usually people drink tap water if the tubes of their building are good, and buy bottled water if they aren't. Sometimes they filter tap water with a purifier, as shown in the answer, usually when it is not so bad to be unsalvagable, but not so good to drink it as it is.

Regardless of the city, what matters most is the quality of the building's tubes. So it basically depends on which building are you on.
