comment Is it socially/culturally acceptable for Indian/Sri Lankan people to visit the Oktoberfest?
@PavelPetrman but this is regardless of where he goes in Germany, and to a lesser extent West in general.

comment Sweets as gifts in lands untouched by modern dentistry
"places with no fluoridation" basically means "everywhere besides the US (with minor exceptions)" (source).

@Scimonster thanks for pointing this out, but it doesn't change much.

@AndrewLazarus still, I'm pretty sure he would never have "pre-complained" this way if he was going to fly with El Al or another Arabic company, he would have looked plain silly, wouldn't he? So basically he's just complaining against a non-Arabic company, assuming they won't allow him to be a nuisance towards every other passenger.

comment May I swim in a direction parallel to the width of a swimming pool in Japan?
@jpatokal yes I understand yakuza usually wear full-body tattoos, but I don't see how would such a silly rule be any helpful in actually keeping them at bay, nor how the people could accept that… oh, well, to every country its quirks…

"all you're allowed to do is swim up and down the lane at the same speed as others in that lane" how are you supposed to coordinate with the others about the speed? And how is this any useful as training, if you are not allowed to have your own speed?

"no visible tattoos" is wtf, basically it means that if you have them, you just can't go to a pool? Seriously?

comment What unit of Euro coins/banknote does Rome use the most and what they don't accept normally?
@MichaelBorgwardt "l Codice civile stabilisce infatti che un commerciante – qualunque sia la sua tipologia – è obbligato a vendere quanto espone. Se si rifiuta deve farlo in riferimento non a un singolo cliente ma a tutti."

@MichaelBorgwardt I'm sorry but I really don't believe this, and since neither of us is a lawyer, I guess this ends here.

@MichaelBorgwardt IANAL, but I'm pretty sure you're totally wrong. A shopkeeper does not have the right to refuse a customer: a public shop must be open to everyone, AFAIK.

comment Opening a bank account with a quick debit card in Europe
@Relaxed the "insured" sum should be 100'000€, so, unless I'm mistaken, the OP should be definitely safe. But, as he pointed out, his concern is not losing his small deposit, rather not getting the service he needs.
