Where in the world knowing Russian and English will not be enough? "In Western Europe should be relatively easy to find someone who speaks English" Impossible in Spain, hard in France and Italy. |

Is it allowed to carry “a knife” or “a pepper spray” while traveling by road in the Schengen area as a woman? If you're asking specifically about knifes, question title should be about knifes, not "cold weapons". Especially given that in many countries knifes are legal to carry because the are not considered weapons. Also gender is irrelevant to it's legality. |

Is it allowed to carry “a knife” or “a pepper spray” while traveling by road in the Schengen area as a woman? Isn't "cold weapons" to broad of a category? It'd would even include range weapons like example crossbows. No to mention swords, sabers, axes etc. |

How can I find the arrival gate for a flight? Also, typically arrival gate == departure gate for the next return flight. |

What non third world country would allow me to work temporarily? -1: Schengen is not EU, EU is not Schengen. For example he'd need work permit for Switzerland. |

Overtaking regulations when driving in Europe As far as I know, overtaking on right is not infraction if it's road with divided carriageways or one way carriageway; or the carriageway has at least three lanes in your direction. Also I do agree that it's not the safest way, but I wouldn't say that it's uncommon. |

Why do travel sites always show per-person accomodation price on a basis of 2 travelers sharing the same room? I believe you mean vacation packages, which are indeed mostly meant for couples. Few people go on vacation all alone. OTOH, for example Booking.com let's you choose criteria (price per single, per double etc.) |

One hour layover sufficient to get through customs? @Mark: Norway is Schengen Zone, but not UE, so he might be selected for random customs check. And for outgoing flight he has to go through passport check (going from Schengen part of airport into non-Schengen). |

How to stay connected with friends, family while abroad? I wouldn't say that it provides significantly lower prices than roaming in Europe for outgoing calls. |
