comment EU: Medical insurance mandatory at border control?
@mouviciel: eh? "anyone who is insured by or covered by a statutory social security scheme of the EEA countries and Switzerland". Why would you say that it doesn't apply for non-citizen residents? The part of the article you linked to only talks of Channel Islands and Isle of Man.

comment Are Australian passports expensive in comparison to other western / developed countries?
@jpatokal: AFAIK, only 5-year validity passports issued in EU are the ones issued to kids <13 years. Adult biometric passports have 10-year validity (I know first hand that's it's the case for Italy, Poland and Spain).

comment In which countries are the visitor's first name and last name compulsory?
There is similar issue with people having standard western Name Surname when dealing with bureaucracy in Spanish speaking countries, where two surnames are expected

comment Is it possible to get a Russian visa with a Dutch passport while holding the Russian nationality?
I was under the impression that Dutch have anti-double nationality laws, thus you cannot legally have Dutch and any other nationality (except very short list of circumstances).

Obviously Czech is the closes to the Slovak. Polish is close, but that's only enough to have very rough understanding. I'd say that Polish native speaker would understand about 70-80% of Slovak if it's spoken slowly and clearly. I'd say kind of similar like Spanish and Portuguese. Slavic languages from other language branches are significantly different, thus I wouldn't expect you to understand even 40-50% if you only speak for example Russian.

Of course, why would US greencard change anything?

@MarkMayo: interesting, that they've opted for lifting the least controversial and the least annoying ban.
