comment Where can I go by boat from Amsterdam?
@Patrick: sorry, I'm not from A'dam, I'm in A'dam. And I'm not into canal boating. Anyway, the Netherlands have 6000km of waterways. There are numerous books on the subject. For example: amazon.co.uk/dp/0983284121 amazon.co.uk/dp/184623185X amazon.co.uk/dp/0852889763

This question is to broad, given that you can pretty much travel whole of the Netherlands and great part of neighboring countries by boat. Be more specific about the trip you're looking for.

From my experience 1% is still less, than spread for cash exchange (which tends to be around 4-6%). OTOH, your bank will have spread also, but for electronic transactions it's usually much lower than for cash. See also: travel.stackexchange.com/questions/1911/…

comment Is it possible to travel on cargo airplanes?
Well, if that were possible, then why wouldn't KLM load Vilma Soltesz on one of their cargo planes?

btw. you are required to have spare glasses if and only if your driver's license states, that you're required to wear glasses to drive. Which isn't that usual, even for people who normally use glasses.

@uncovery: many non-EU license plates use same scheme, difference is that instead of EU flag they have national flag.

comment Is it allowed to carry “a knife” or “a pepper spray” while traveling by road in the Schengen area as a woman?
If you're asking specifically about knifes, question title should be about knifes, not "cold weapons". Especially given that in many countries knifes are legal to carry because the are not considered weapons. Also gender is irrelevant to it's legality.

Isn't "cold weapons" to broad of a category? It'd would even include range weapons like example crossbows. No to mention swords, sabers, axes etc.
