comment How strict are the airlines if one's bag is ony 2cm bigger than the rule?
Keep in mind that, depending on the specific dimensions of your bag and the allowance provided, your "just slightly too big" bag might no longer fit in the compartment on which the dimensions are based. At which point, you'll have to check the bag, and make a fool of yourself while doing it.

comment From what point could you view the most US states?
@phyrfox The fame of the four corners has less to do with being able to see four states (as other answers note, that's surprisingly common), as it does to do with being able to stand in four states.

comment Am I supposed to respect traffic signs that are upside down (in the USA)?
@neo The limit is almost universally 25 or 30, so it's kind of a moot point.

comment Can I refuse to pay auto-gratuity in a restaurant?
At a minimum, not doing so is a tremendous dick move. Far more so than their adding it to the bill, IMHO.

comment Where to find good mead in San Francisco
The easiest answer is to find a liquor store, bar, or restaurant serviced by Lime Ventures. They distribute for Moonlight Meadery in CA, and while it may not be a local product, it is the best product.

@user568458 'no traditional NYC festive music events'? I wouldn't say that, at all. Performed by members of one of the cities uniformed services? No. Definitely not. Most of our music is performed by professionals. If you're interested in that, I'd suggest clarifying the question significantly.

comment Do any States in the US give traffic tickets for 5 mph above the speed limit?
Indeed. Just wanted to make it clear that it does. This was, admittedly, one of the most remote places possible to get a ticket (Ely, NV), in a car with Michigan plates. The assumption was clearly that fighting the ticket would be a nightmare for me, and thus, that I'd never bother and just pay the fine.

I've been personally ticketed for 73 in a 70. It's not common, but it happens. :(

comment Is tap water drinkable in Massachusetts (and elsewhere in USA)?
@FixedPoint What choster said. Do not impugn the reputation of NYC's tap water! It's actually among the cleanest, safest, and tastiest in the entire US, to the point where the city gets waivers from the EPA that the water is so clean that it needs no chemical filtration. (This in turn is responsible for the water supplies unique mineral mix, which is why it's so prized for baked goods - it's the key ingredient that makes 'New York Pizza' what it is.)

comment Road Conditions on drive from Washington, DC to Quebec City over Christmas
It's New England and Canada in Winter. So yes, Snow is possible, or even likely. The level of preparedness required for this on your part is entirely a factor of the recency of the snowfall, your haste to reach your destination, and your level of comfort driving on roads that have not yet been completely plowed.

@Celada Honestly, that sounds like the basis for a pretty damned good answer to this question in it's own right.
