comment Road Conditions on drive from Washington, DC to Quebec City over Christmas
It's New England and Canada in Winter. So yes, Snow is possible, or even likely. The level of preparedness required for this on your part is entirely a factor of the recency of the snowfall, your haste to reach your destination, and your level of comfort driving on roads that have not yet been completely plowed.

comment What's the best way to signal that I'd prefer to be served in English?
@Celada Honestly, that sounds like the basis for a pretty damned good answer to this question in it's own right.

@max I don't know that there is such a place. I was keeping the question purposely generic, and so used Korean rather than a greeting in, French or Spanish or Russian or Swahili, because, why not?

comment What does it mean to be in the fast lane?
California actually has a "Reasonable and Prudent" standard in it's law. However, proving that anything over the posted limit is reasonable and prudent is next to impossible, so it's something of a moot point.

@RussellMcMahon fancy that, a complaint about downvotes. +5 -2.

comment Where to hear live rendition of the National anthem in NYC?
Keep in mind that many (most?) professional sporting events will use a pre-recorded instrumental national anthem, usually, but not always, with a live singer of varying quality.

comment Is there a difference between an Express MetroCard and a non-Express MetroCard?
@choster Alternately, especially for shorter trips in Manhattan, in many cases the difference in travel time between an express and a local is negligible, and people will just take the first train that shows up headed in the right direction.

comment If a program is registering me for my hotel stay and paying for it, could I still use those nights for a rewards program?
The key circumstance in which points cannot be applied for most hotel programs is if the booking is done with a discount broker like Priceline or Orbitz. In these cases, you are often SOL. That said, if you have status with the hotel chain in question, it's worth giving them your membership info at check in regardless, as you'll often receive the perks to which you are entitled that way n
