Yeah, but if you're in trouble, you shouldn't wait for an embassy... since there are far more consulates around than embassies, you should know that the consulate is just as likely to be helpful.

Technically, it's a consulate you're looking for, not an embassy... Embassies deal with diplomacy; consulates deal with personal problems. In many cases, the consulate is in the same building as the embassy, but there are usually far more consulates than embassies (there is only one embassy for each country in the capital city, but there are usually consulates all over)
