comment What does it mean to be in the fast lane in California?
@CGCampbell go on and read 21651 which talks about a truly divided highway. That is, there is at least 2 feet gap between the directions delineated by double yellow lines or a median or a barrier. That implies to me that 21650 is talking about undivided highways. So 21650 c means one direction of a divided highway. Appears to be backed up by 21659.

comment Buying a return ticket for a child flying with different parent
You might check whether buying your daughter an adult round-trip ticket would be cheaper than multiple one-way tickets.

comment Apply for J1-Visa second time (Germany -> USA)
I think you should be looking at j1visa.state.gov/basics/common-questions instead. The implication is that you'll return to your home country in between two J-1 programs.

comment Can I get portuguese visa in 5 days?
I think the OP is traveling now, so can't apply for a Portuguese visa in his or her country of residence until 6 June.

comment Why have they announced to turn off phones while they are explicitly allowed?
I just flew Emirates in April and they were saying off or airplane mode.

comment What are the limits when carrying laptops and electronics to USA?
Check on whether you might have trouble re-importing the devices back to your home country. It's sometimes possible to get paperwork from customs proving that the devices were obtained prior to travel.

Norwegian Cruise Line says yes, you need a visa. Scroll down to the Visa Restrictions for Canada section.

comment What kind of hat to wear for business in India?
Generally lighter-weight but a similar style would be a Panama hat.

comment Is there a way to find out meal timing in a long-haul flight?
Or there's turbulence / bad weather and the flight crew has to remain seated.

FYI, the acronym for the US Bureau of Land Management is BLM, not BOLM.

@Carolyn still looking. It was in Yokohama, and IIRC not that far from the Minato Mirai.

comment Want to meet arriving passenger inside airport before immigration (SIN airport)
As @GayotFow implies, whenever I've landed in a foreign country, the passengers are herded into the immigrations area. Occasionally there's mixing of two or more flights, but generally close to the immigrations area, not near the gates.

comment British citizen, why does my South-African wife need a visa to visit me in the UK?
Nothing beyond the economy is running a few years behind the US, so the crash in 2008 in the US, hit them later, and they're still recovering. Opportunities for everyone are limited.

I withdraw my comment! Having just visited SA, I can understand why it's in the top 10. I'll delete my comments.

comment How to behave in a museum?
As someone who often goes "against the flow" (partially I think because I'm left-handed), I would be quite offended if anyone but a museum guard/employee asked me to change direction. If it was very crowded or a special exhibit, then I'd mind it more excusable.

@Ida thanks! I debated the CARES and decided to try without. Some struggles, but we would have had that with the CARES too!

comment Bringing carseat on flight
Lufthansa specifically states "Child restraint systems that only consist of straps which fasten over and/or around the back of the seat cannot be utilised on board." Would that include the CARES system?
