Can? Almost certainly yes. Will? Unlikely, but not impossible.

comment Is there a formula similar or close to Interrail for a family with (small) children?
When I bought a British rail pass from North America, we got one free child pass for each adult pass we bought. So while they didn't technically offer a special discount family pass, we ended up with one anyway. I don't know if the same would apply to Europe or not.

@NateEldredge I've updated to be clear I don't suggest claiming a non existent condition (and not just because it might backfire)

@NateEldredge true in theory, but I have sat next to someone with claustrophobia who wanted my aisle seat and offered me a window for it. travel.stackexchange.com/a/13500/46 Nobody suggested he shouldn't be allowed to fly. I wouldn't claim a disorder I didn't have, but nor would I hide one for fear they would keep me from flying over it.

Oh, and those people who talk to each other over you? After ten minutes or so, simply say "I'm sure it would be easier for both of you if you were sitting together. I'm happy to switch seats with either one of you" and see what happens. Either you get a better seat or they stop talking over you.

comment Are prices on car rental comparison sites the “real” price?
I have tried to explain to rental car people that I don't know their dollars, gallons, or local gas price and therefore cannot evaluate the "great price" they're offering me. I never prepay for gas. I have checked once or twice and the "great price" is 2/3 the retail, but as @Flimzy says, you pay for a full tank, not just what you used, which is almost always a lot less than 1/3 a tank, meaning you're overpaying if you prepay. (Logically, they choose their prepay price to ensure this.)

comment How to spot fake reviews on TripAdvisor?
I torture myself by reading reviews of $2000+/night resorts. At those prices, everything is amazing and the staff are mentioned by name in every review. These are good rules in general though.

pay for what? Are you expecting answers that cover every retail environment, places that charge admission, toll booths, and so on?

comment How can I buy an economy ticket one-way from Tahiti to Easter Island?
I know people who have had bookings cancelled because they conflict. Eg two flights A-B on the same day, airline cancels one. If I book PPT-IPC-PPT and IPC-SCL, I don't want IPC-SCL cancelled by the airline. Usually you avoid this by using different airlines, but I can't.

comment What should you do with your house keys while traveling a short time?
I have a neighbor I trust, and adult children who live nearby, and staff - all of whom have keys. But I wouldn't want to have to retrieve my key from any of them on returning home. I agree with all your reasons for others having A key to your house, but it's not THE key or MY key.
