I am not aware of anywhere you can check in a month ahead. 24 hours is normal.

comment More creative snow festivals than Sapporo snow festival
May I suggest carnaval.qc.ca/en/about/history, the largest winter festival in the world? Ice sculptures, ice hotel, canoe races on mostly frozen water, and a touch of Mardi Gras to top it off!

I don't know. You'll have to ask them.

comment What is the rationale of SMS verification in free wifi hotspots in airports?
was this time limited free wifi (eg 30 minutes free?) If so it's an easy way to ensure nobody gets more than 30 minutes at a time. If they charge for longer access that will easily pay for the cost of sending the texts

comment Are these guys real or scammers? canadianvisaexpert.com
@samsonade I'm not saying they're legit - I'm pretty sure they're not - but the wiki.answers link says basically "they're totally scammers because they asked for my credit card number" which I don't find convincing.

revised Are there consequences to stamps in my passport that are not from border control?
obviously you can; it is offered. The question is whether that's ok, right?

@MeNoTalk that seems like a pretty low bar to be a fraud - many perfectly legitimate companies (say, the phone company or a theatre when I'm buying tickets) ask for my cc # over the phone.
