comment What's the preferable option to book a flight?
@AnkurBanerjee, true, but Opodo charged me £25pp on top. I did clarify it with them, and this is their fee for calling the airline basically.

What kind of information are you expecting to find in this guide that is not in the normal guidebooks?

@fog, you would most probably get the same terms and conditions from the airline directly. Don't stress too much about it though, just enjoy your trip!

@fog, you might be fine then! I definitely had to pay something like £25 per person to Opodo a few years ago. More annoyingly, this was not covered by the travel insurance, because they only covered cancellation and not associated agency fees...

Never consult a map in public? I don't think this particular advice is practical. Am I supposed to learn the map and guidebook by heart before setting out? I am not Jason Bourne :)

comment Least stressful method of travelling around Paris
Re. your example with London, it is actually much better to get an prepaid Oyster card - the amount they will charge you daily is capped at the daily travel card rate. So you will never spend more than the daily travel card price.

Aussies already have electronic visas (only for some nationalities). Probably other nations will follow...

comment Hong Kong Airport - restricted/non-restricted areas
You can do it, yes. You will just get a stamp in your passport. You just need to reserve enough time to get back through security.

comment What would a month holiday to Australia from Amsterdam/Brussels roughly cost to a family of four?
Also budget wise, you should decide what you want to see before you buy your flight tickets - it is often much cheaper to buy all the internal flights together with the intercontinental ones.

It really depends on what you want to do I guess. (1) you might want to book some internal flights, because it is not fun to drive thousands of km in a desert with kids (2) there are basically no historical things to see in Australia, there are many "attractions", but these seem rather expensive.

Thanks for the details! How can I get to the other venues using public transport? Do you know if they offer bouldering/sport climbing/both?

In Poland money exchange offices will often give you better exchange rate than a credit card.

comment What's the most comfortable way to travel with 2 backpacks or bags and a DSLR camera?
@rlesko, if you need the stuff from your daypack then you should do (4) above, i.e. distribute it reasonably in the big backpack.
