comment What is proper etiquette on bringing one night stands to a hotel room?
I also think this has way more to do with the culture of your location than the actual single/double occupancy. Any reasonable hotel won't put up a stink for an extra guest if it conforms to the local culture

Thanks, I think I'll try this approach then - seems doable with my short layover. However, I emailed them about it right after you gave this answer with the same details, but they only mentioned Day Use Room for 125GBP. They did not specifically EXCLUDE gym/shower access, but it seems strange that they wouldn't address that. Do you have any idea as to why that might be (other than profit, of course)? Do they not offer the service anymore? Thanks again!

As an added question, will I have to go to baggage claim + all that to exit, or can I quickly hop off the plane, bounce through a short immigration line and come back, as my bag is checked to final destination anyway?

Thanks for your input, Doc (hehe). As @Gagravarr had mentioned this before, I was interested in the Sofitel, and 30GBP is extremely reasonable, imo. Given my 3 hour layover, and your comment regarding the formality of entry/exit on my US passport, do you think the Sofitel can be worked? I don't think I'm willing to risk anything further, but if it's directly connected to T5...

Thanks - Unfortunately I booked through expedia, which is why I can't manage it online until I hit the first leg, but I'll be sure to talk to CS. Thanks for your help

@MichaelBorgwardt true, and because I'll have to work on the flight, I can see the advantages... but at 23 yo who has never had a problem with longhauls, it's hard to justify that price for a little comfort haha decisions..

I agree - this was a very last minute thought though and I've had the tickets booked months in advance :/ I'll check at the counter. How much would you say a reasonable upgrade would be? I've never paid for a US-London flight before so I don't know the right pricing

Thanks, I looked into this suggestion, and got quoted ~1200 in fare diff + change fee, so it probably isn't the best way lol. I am interested in your immigration suggestion though - would I have enough time to do that given my short layover?

Called them and this is the only available option too, thanks. They said I could try my luck going up to the desk and asking.

@Gagravarr sorry didn't make that clear, it's just a layover on the way to a different country
