comment Why do UK train tickets crossing London include the underground, but Paris ones don't for the metro?
"you therefore have to buy an additional ticket on arrival". For Thalys you can buy the ticket already on the train.

Sure, but as you can read from my answer I take Tiananmen square as a reference. That is half an hour from Dongzhimen

comment Transit through Beijing - Languages?
Dongzhimen is not the city center, in my opinion. If you know your way around Beijing it is probably quicker, but you have to assume they don't.

comment Transit through Beijing - Languages?
@MikkaRin No, that is to the connection to line 10 (IIRC). You are not in the city center yet. Also, waiting times for the airport express can be as much as 15 minutes. You should budget that in your worst case scenario. Including buying tickets etc.

comment Languages spoken in the Netherlands
@DavidMulder I am too lazy to read all those comments, but as far as I can see from what I read, it has nothing to do with tourist trying to communicate with people.

comment Are these reasonable gas and electricity prices for Milan?
@Abc You also read "Travel Stack Exchange is for road warriors and seasoned travelers.."? Paying for gas and electricity in a apartment you rent does not really refer to travellers. Maybe you have more luck at: expatriates.stackexchange.com

comment Can I use my birth certificate as identification on a bus in Texas?
I updated your question, to contain only one. However, for it to be re-opened, more information is needed, such as the bus service provider.

@Blackbird57 If you are uncomfortable with that, you can give it directly to the waiter.

comment US law and travel to Cuba for citizens of third countries
Afaik there are no direct flights US-Cuba, I think that should be your main concern. You have to fly by Canada or Mexico. Legal? I don't think there is a problem, but I don't know.

@JoeBlow Hand in? I thought we were talking about showing them? Also, I didn't experience this in any of my stays in hotels around Europe.

@JoeBlow You can easily find these passports on Wikipedia as well. I don't know how privacy concerns are handled there.

Is there any reason not to show your passport?

comment Am I a British citizen overseas or just a UK British citizen?
From a privacy point of view it might be good to also blank out some parts of the other passport. If you found them online, it might be helpfull to state a source. +1 for this answer though.
