comment UK Exit Checks: Are people driving via Eurotunnel/Ferry affected?
(not an answer) A ferry firm today pledged that new compulsory passport checks would not cause delays for holidaymakers leaving Portsmouth ... But Channel Tunnel company Eurotunnel has warned of border travel “coming to a standstill” in future years unless new smarter technology for the checks is introduced - lots of details there

comment Why do trucks pass each other on the highway?
@EdmundYeung99 there were two trucks in the slow lane; asker was behind the one truck in the fast lane passing them. Asker expected the overtake to complete in time to be able to drop back into the slow lane for the exit; asker's expectation was confounded.

comment How to get from Gatwick airport to Paddington?
I'd be wary of making any kind of statement about Crossrail fares and ticketing until such time as a normal member of the public actually travels for the first time...

comment Is riding a bicycle in the parks of Glasgow allowed?
@JoeBlow in common usage as might reasonably be understood by a reasonable person. You'll notice that the relevant laws (Scotland, s.129) a) don't say pavement but also b) don't actually define the terms they use. The law isn't a formal grammar.

comment Converting US Dollars to Euros in the UK without getting screwed with two transaction fees?
15-20% of what?! As of right now, the midmarket GBP => EUR rate is 1.25 (courtesy XE); I can walk down the road to Thomas Exchange Global and get 1 GBP => 1.2325 EUR. I don't see anything being 15-20% of anything there...

comment How can I work out the price of a UK bus fare online?
+1 for the site, but I did look there for a picked-at-random bus journey operated by First, and guess what? "Transport Direct does not currently have this fare information. Check for operator fares", with a link to First's not-especially-helpful site...

comment Why is it considered so dangerous to travel in South Africa?
Those statistics don't show who the vicitims are. Somewhere where gang members kill each other but no one else will be perfectly safe for travellers, no matter how high the homicide count. Somewhere where the locals target only travellers will be extremely dangerous, no matter how low the count.
