comment Can a tourist buy a gun in the USA?
And deep-diving the specifics of percentage of sales from alcohol, etc was unnecessary - the sort of thing a CHL class teaches, which he won't be taking anyway. I thought my context being specific to Texas and not all-inconclusive was pretty unambiguous. Hence the reference to the state of Texas wrapped in heading tags so my context was clear. Also, please refer to my use of the term "felony" (a state-level criminal offense - at the federal level, criminal offenses are "federal offenses." Not "felonies.") You are completely incorrect re: carrying a concealed, loaded firearm just anywhere (in Texas); stores, it depends on what the store sells. Signs advise no firearms period, CHL or not (leave -> car.) Checked w/a TX CHL holder.

Fair, I guess. Let me add context: I live in Texas, relative to the gun owners in Texas who would like to get a concealed carry permit versus gun owners who actually have one, they're pretty rare. ^.^ Also, Texas does not require handguns to be registered, and has no waiting period. However: Texas. My point is still this: nothing quite as democratic as a shotgun. I don't think that a firearm without a concealed carry permit offers protection of any sort that a the travelling tourist non-citizen could even use, such as somebody with a permit or a house to defend.
