@WTraveller Ah ok, that's quite unusual.

The more lying you do, the worse it gets over time. (That's just my 2 cents, however, I don't really have experience with getting visas.)

@WTraveller Usually it's provided with your plane ticket.

Well, transit visa may only allow you to go from the airport to the airport hotel and back. So unless you arrive to LHR and travel for instance from STD, you shouldn't get yourself downtown (depends on the visa though).

comment booking.com: Can multiple people manage one booking?
@Relaxed (getting a bit chatty and off-topic here, aren't we?) Well, there's likely certain legal difference between sharing the number with a vendor (who had to register with VISA to be able to do the payments) and sharing it with anybody else. I'm not an expert though, these are just my thoughts). And yeah, I had to share a card number once over an e-mail and I really hated doing it.

@Relaxed I agree with the phone/skype call (voice, moreover in this crazy language we do speak) being somewhat acceptable, but any logged means are a strict no-no. If not for another reason, just for the fact that your card insurance can be void/limited if you do that.

@JoErNanO That's what I meant. Well, you can probably post the answer even now, I'll just wait with the accepting to see if some other solution is found.

comment booking.com: Can multiple people manage one booking?
@JoErNanO Yeah, I considered this as well, especially since I'm in a hurry now and they're not at the internet. Well, I'll leave it the question as is for some time, if no better thing is found, I'll re-word it so that your comments fits as an answer. Is it fine with you?

comment Is iPad counted as a second Laptop?
@jwenting Your personal property are not goods. Well, maybe they are in strange countries like US, but they are not here. And I speak of personal experience: I was receiving a post package of my relative who has been moving back to Czechia, it had to go through the customs, but nothing had to be paid, even if the total value was quite high. Simply because we honestly (and truly) declared that the things are personal belongings of someone moving from one country to another one. So there are situations where you don't have to pay the taxes or whatever, but it's obviously a bit more complicated.

comment Is Vatican City considered a country?
This. The important word is "recognized as such" and possibly "... by Italy". What counts is complicated, but as long as all countries reasonably close to it recognizes as a country, and it itself recognizes as a country, then it is a country with no doubt.

comment Is there a Macgyver-esque way to charge rechargeable batteries?
@clabacchio Well excuse me, but you can't measure charging rate in C. Charging rate is in A = C s. Current is in A. Your answer looks fine to me, just this needs to be corrected.

As well, if you lived in the country for some amount of time and possessed the article for some amount of time, that it's your personal belonging and you can take it with you when you move. But that doesn't seem to be the OP's case. (And the amount of time depend on many factors.)

comment Mattresses are too soft: how can I get a better night's sleep in a hotel?
@JoErNanO Not at all. Too soft bed brings back ache and can bring long-term troubles. When you buy a mattrace, they should ask you how tall and how heavy are you, and choose one for you according to this.

comment Would the same name, different person 'trick' actually work with international travel?
@MikeV For BA, it's however partly because the UK rules enforce them to know the travel document details in advance anyways, so this way they don't need to bother you 2nd time. For example EasyJet solves this during the (mandatory) online check-in, and only for flights in or out of UK.

comment Customs and baggage when transferring in Schengen and going outside
@Donna Well, as I said, I don't know them and the webpage wouldn't really reveal much. They seem fine, just don't seem to have Passau (Pasov in Czech) as one of their destinations, so you better call there and make sure they transport you and make sure what the price is gonna be.

@Donna I've never heard of them, I generally avoid such companies. I think you're much safer to travel by train or by bus. The shortest train journey takes a bit over 5 hours.

@Rish Yes, you are wrong. E.g. when going to Israel, you may be asked to present all your luggage for inspection by Mossad prior boarding. When you're transporting something very expensive into a country with the intention to transport it back, it's the place where you leave the country where you have to claim it. So for instance if you go from Prague to NY and then to Miami, you do all the customs on the US side in NY, and not in Miami.
