Do I need to have an electrical converter for small devices when traveling from the US to São Paulo? Some useful answers below and I'll add a tip: I suggest take an extension block/socket bank from your country in your luggage so that you can plug this into the adapter if it has only one socket (many do). That way, you can run several devices off one socket and not need several conversion/adapters. |

Attend a lecture in computer science while travelling in the UK Moreover it may be that what the original poster is not able to find what they were asking for - due to timing or not being able to attend a lecture theatre with students who have enrolled. So rather than say this can't be done my hope is that the alternatives I suggest achieve the same end goal for them. |

Attend a lecture in computer science while travelling in the UK @AnkurBanerjee I disagree - in all 6 of my suggestions it would be possible to learn about computing talks going on. We don't know why the original poster would find it interesting to be in a talk with enrolled students, i.e. what do they ultimately want to gain from this. So perhaps my suggestions may address what this end goal might be - different story same ending. It's possible that in all 6 of my suggestions, the original poster would find contacts in the academic world who could signpost them to events. |

What is the most effective advice to avoid/minimise risk of illness when travelling in Africa? +1 @EpiGrad this is great additional advice. Talking to a travel doctor is a good one, some might say one of the first things to do, but good advice nonetheless and I'm not going to shun that. TV shows: I agree with your point, one needs to keep things in perspective. |

What is the most effective advice to avoid/minimise risk of illness when travelling in Africa? +1 Thanks Mark for the update - the link is useful. Good to know. I think I have to be careful to stop myself from getting carried away and having some morbid curiosity about these and go off on a tangent when the original goal is to enjoy the travel! "Land of the wide horizon, great sunsets, abundant wildlife, and landscape as old as time itself. Take some risks, odds are that the rewards will far outweigh the risks themselves." |
