Swedish guy who loves to travel, especially by train, and loves even more to take photos. In fact some might refer to him as a photographer. Others call him a geek, some nerd and some select few a friend. Also gamer. And sometime guitar player.

@Tamilselvan After reading the question again I notice you do not have a PUT, but the same applies to any kind of Residence Permit. Good travels!

comment What is the cheapest way to get from Central Europe to South East Asia between Christmas and the New Year?
How long is the trip allowed to be would also be good to know, would it be ok to travel 2-3 days to get to Bangkok? Going to northern europe and then flying over the north pole to China might take some time, but some great deals. Might also look in to flying to Singapore or Kuala Lumpur then taking a bus or three. From Stockholm to BKK there are often very good deals, last week I saw a early christmas flight for ~230€ one way.

comment Recommendation for mobile prepaid SIM card for smartphone + home calls
Just a thought, could you use T-mobile and then use skype (or similar)? I've done this a lot, both in my own country and when traveling.

comment What is the protocol for taking a last minute cruise?
Yes, in my experience calling them directly is the best way. Though indeed, the policies differ a lot from cruise line to cruise line. I suspect a geographical and cultural difference is present as well, there might be a difference in your results when comparing some asian lines with american or european.

comment What are the relevant passenger rights in case of international train travel in Europe?
What a great question. I have asked this to the support at interrail/eurail website. I also mentioned that they should make the passenger rights a more prominent feature on their sites. If they get back to me with something in addition to what you have already stated I will put it on here.

comment What is a suitable place in Japan for learning the language?
Can you elaborate? Is this a one month trip and you want to learn some phrases? Are you moving to/living in Japan? In which case this would be off topic as it is no longer about traveling. Cities do not teach anything, are you looking for a region in which there are good schools? When I google "Learning Japanese in Japan" "Studying Japanese" and similar I found a lot of results, plenty of schools to go through. That might guide you in a good direction to finding a suitable school/study center. After finding the name of a place one can google more to find what people think of that place.

comment Can I pre-purchase more luggage allowance on Qatar Airways flights?
I was not charged 17 USD when I paid at the airport. It was still the 13 USD per kg. I was not able to pay online in any way I could find out. For future travelers can you explain how one would go about using the website to pre-purchase luggage?

More info than I even needed, but that can't be a bad thing :D And speaking of buses, yes indeed, every flight through Doha needs a bus transfer because the whole place is a building site. It was absolutely terrible, I can see they had tried to make the info good, but there were plenty of places for improvement. Standing in that bus for what felt like 30 min (was probably 8 or 10) made me realize I would've happily paid extra to fly with another airline had I known about it. Lesson learned - not only check the airlines, do a checkup on the airports too.
