comment Bringing coins back home from abroad; Is that unethical to do?
As an American who moved to Canada, I had the same phenomenon. My wife sells items on Facebook auctions and Kijiji (like Craigslist up here) so many items go for 2, 3, or 4 dollars. Since our smallest note is a 5, we end up with many rolls of loonies and toonies ($1 and $2 coins). It doesn't take long for the small jar to have a couple hundred dollars of change in it, where I had originally dismissed it as "just change".

comment New UK passport with new name; would the US know it's still me? Suspected outstanding warrant
Side note - when you're in a foreign country and you get arrested for something, change your flight so you can attend the session. Chances are very high (given the circumstances you provided) that you'd get a slap on the wrist, maybe a fine, and probably some extra questions when you enter the country. What's crazy is that you were able to get on the plane home at all! I would have expected that's the first thing they'd cancel.

comment I don't know my nationality. How can I visit Denmark?
"USCIS would not know anything about that." Why would you say that? I would expect the USCIS to be the go-to expert for all things related to entering and leaving the country. They work closely with other agencies and, at the very least, will be able to help you interface with the other countries.

comment Can I enter Pakistan on my Pakistani passport which expires in less than 1 month?
I'm pretty sure any country of which you're a citizen will let you back in the country if you can prove identity, which an expired passport usually can. They might make a note on your file and you encounter difficult situations down the road, though.

comment Can Canadian money (change) be used in the United States?
@gerrit why? Because they look and feel like play money. I agree with you that Canadian bills are superior to American in all aspects except value and smell. (Seriously, you can't beat that fresh US money smell...) But the perception is that they are inferior, regardless of the facts.

It would appear people on this site use vending machines approximately 10000x more than I do...

As far as bills are concerned, you might have a hard time convincing a typical American that anyone considers Canadian money to be actual money, much less that they should accept it. As an American living in Canada, I've gone back home to hear everything from "Monopoly money" to "tissue paper" (which is absurd, Canadian money would be useless for any legitimate application of tissue paper...)

As an American living in Canada, I can assure you many places around the states accidentally take Canadian coins.

comment Why does my French Schengen visa say Marsault, or Goat in English?
I don't see it clarified in your answer, are you a goat? I mean, this is 2016, I won't judge.

comment Is it rude to ask if the food contains pork or alcohol?
Why would you consider someone's belief against killing animals to be less important than their belief against eating a food for religious reasons? That seems like a trivial distinction, considering they're both dietary decisions made for spiritual reasons.

comment Immigration officer that stopped me at the airport is texting me. What do I do?
@DJClayworth Like I said, my comment is definitely one that enables them to get away with it. But not everyone is Rosa Parks, and for every Rosa Parks, there was a thousand people that history forgot who stood up to their oppressors and lost at great expense, and sometimes life. With the increased scrutiny on travelers due to recent attacks, and the (not logically founded) fears of terrorists coming to the US from Canada and Mexico, is now really the time to pick a fight with someone who can slap you on a terrorist watch list? I'm not saying don't report, just saying do some research first.

comment Immigration officer that stopped me at the airport is texting me. What do I do?
In a perfect world, the appropriate people handle this situation professionally. In a cynical world, this ensures the traveler in question is flagged for every possible hassle in the book. Do you happen to know where this situation likely falls? I hate to sound like an enabler, but if this means spending multiple extra hours at the airport every time you go through US customs for the rest of your life... you have to weigh that into the decision. I'm certainly hopeful that someone can give assurance "No, they don't work like that" but I think it's worth asking the question.

comment What is the arrival process in international air travel?
@MichaelHampton I remember the strange look on my face when my friend (from India) said Italy had approved his visa for his vacation. I'm like you need a special credit card to go to Italy? He's like no, you need permission to enter the country! I said that's odd, I thought you just showed up! He's like "... if you have a US passport, sure... The rest of the world... not so much"

comment Why do hostels require you to 'rent' bedding?
@dirkk While I'm not a diamond here on Travel, I am elsewhere, and I can say the guidelines I've been given require an explicit declaration in every post, even if your name is "the_guy_from_foo_dot_com". =)

comment Will getting a refund from an ESTA scam site cause me to be blacklisted from the US?
@Tor-EinarJarnbjo As a business owner, we have gotten chargebacks for the most ridiculous things. Unfortunately, the bank always sides with the customer, even if they clearly received the product they intended to purchase. It's become a cure for buyer's remorse as of late. =(

comment Why is the departures level always above the arrivals level?
@superluminary That would be the part of the airport where they store all the "please pardon our progress" signs, right? I'm pretty sure every airport has 80% of their floorspace under permanent construction.
