comment Why do we fasten seatbelts for turbulence?
"Although injuries to turbulence are rare" ... because of the rule that says you put on your seat belt during turbulence.

comment Who was this persistent person at Shanghai airport?
The pricing is a big difference. In Miami, we paid about 60% more for one of these than the posted-rate for the taxi we should have taken. They also don't necessarily have a guarantee of insurance in case of damages like the licensed taxis do. At least we were save, right? =)

comment Is it normal to walk around a(n American) hotel in pajamas?
@frostschutz I am insulted that you would imply that Groundhog Day is not a model by which we should all live.

I want to upvote this so bad, but I have such a hard time with "definitely may". :-)

comment Kenyan citizen refused Schengen visa from Sweden
@dotancohen That reminds me of the time I was talking with an Indian friend of mine who said his visa to go to Italy had been approved. "Visa? Don't you just show up with your passport?" and he replies "Sure, if you're an American!" - I didn't realize that most countries' citizens have to ask first... I felt naive, to say the least.

comment Must drivers stop at zebra crossings / crosswalks in Michigan?
@KennyLJ Having grown up in Michigan, you don't find those crosswalks very often. I found it very stupid moving about the country that any shmuck could stop traffic because they wanted to cross the street when there's a freaking stop light a few dozen yards away.

comment May an airline change the aircraft from the scheduled one?
When I first read this, I thought it meant in flight. And my only thought was, no that would just be absurd. I think I need a coffee or something.

comment Is it rude to give up your seat in Japan?
Emphasis on the not being creepy part. Creepy is a universal language.

comment Hard time proving I am same person as seen in the passport photo taken 9 years ago
If it was taken nine years ago, isn't it up for renewal in a year anyway? Is there a downside to just getting it renewed?

comment Can't check-in to a hotel because I am 18
Not your question, but do you have someone 21 or older who could vouch for you? I.e. they book the room, even if they include some kind of deposit?

comment Why are airline passengers asked to lift up window shades during takeoff and landing?
While this is an excellent answer, the bullet points are the most important part of the answer, as they actually answer the question. They should be much closer to the top of the article. The remainder of the article is good, but not as important as the bullet points.

When they google your name and this question comes up, you may have some explaining to do. :-O
