comment If there are no planes flying into Nancy, can I schedule my own connecting flight from Strasbourg? Or anywhere for that matter?
@DavidRicherby Even Paris doesn't have direct flights to Louisville or Indianapolis. Nor does Heathrow, so I suspect neither offers any translatlantic flight. Imataloss will have to go via Detroit or New York or Washington or something.

@Relaxed Yes, it's the combination of the size and the train travel time that's too small to sustain flights. Is flying to Luxembourg really a viable option between Roissy and Nancy? I don't know how well-connected Nancy and Luxembourg airport are. There aren't many flights between Paris and Luxembourg.

comment How bad is it to overstay my Schengen visa by 6 days?
There's a passport control when you exit the Schengen area. They'll scan your passport and update the record for your visa in the database, and I'm pretty sure that a message will pop up on the official's screen telling them that you overstayed. The consequence may well be a fine and a Schengen visa interdiction lasting several years.

comment Is an Oyster card worth it for 3 days?
The part about Oyster is a duplicate, but not the part about Heathrow to Balham.

Most of your questions (but not the Heathrow–Balham bit) are answered at Transportation from St Pancras station to ExCel convention center. If you're going to make at least two trips in central London, then an Oyster card is cheaper than paper tickets.

The price cap is not available on standard oyster cards? When did that change? Last I was in London, a day pass would be automatically counted if it was cheaper than individual tickets. A benefit of standard Oyster cards is that they can be fully refunded (though this isn't worth the hassle if you leave London in such a way that there's no open ticket office at your exit point). See Transportation from St Pancras station to ExCel convention center — is any part of that answer wrong?
