comment Shortest route to Mariposa Grove's from Las Vegas
@mkennedy What does pretty much hosed mean in this context? And thanks for the link, I knew of the closure, but hadn't seen the list of alternative locations. That might prove useful.

comment Renting a car from private persons in California
It seems that Relay Rides does provide insurance, if I understand the article they posted correctly.

Yes, the most recent time at least. I paid €30 for a van for a day. A comparable van would've cost me €110 using a normal rental (ok, that's 72%). Given these questions, I'm starting to get the feeling that this concept is not very widespread though... I guess my chances are slim in finding something similar in the US, but I think the questions fits travel, so I'll leave it here.

The SnappCar system I mentioned in my post took care of that when I used it, they charged a fee for that. But even with insurance, renting a vehicle through them was 75% cheaper than using a regular company.

comment Is there a Waze-like app to keep track of each other among travel companions?
@LessPop_MoreFizz Yes, it's clear, just as it is clear how every other brand is behind their own ads. It doesn't make it less of an ad. I think there's (subtle) a difference between: "Hey, I make this product and I think it could answer your question" (preferred) and "Hey, this product answers your questions, use it now and get the pro version free!" (the current answer). It's not a big deal and didn't downvote, but seeing as Buddy is new I thought I would point it out.
